Equipment: 5-gallon food-grade bucket (~$8); submersible utility pump 1/6 HP+ ($15/day rental or $35–$65); 1–2 gallons white distilled 5% vinegar (never apple cider or cleaning vinegar — additives damage seals; 2 gallons for S. FL extreme hard water); two descaling hoses with 3/4" garden hose fittings (descaling kit $15–$25); rubber gloves and safety glasses.

Procedure: 1. Turn off gas/power. Gas units: close the gas shut-off valve. Electric: switch the dedicated breaker OFF. Verify de-energized (no pilot light / status lights). (~2 min) 2. Tankless Water Heater Scale Error Codes

Rinnai: - LC / LC0 (Descale Now): Preventive maintenance reminder triggered by the flow-hour counter (LC0 = first warning); unit still functions.
